Is this qualification still valid?
Yes it is. However to continue assessing you will need to demonstrate that you have been trained on the new A1 Assessor Award standards. For information on our A1 Assessor Award course please click here.

What qualification do I need to hold in order to become an assessor?
You need to gain the A1 Assessor Award or have upgraded to the A1 Assessor Award from the D32/D33 qualification.
Do I get paid to carry out assessments of NVQ learners?
If you are an assessor-candidate you will not be paid for carrying out assessments while you are in training.
If you are qualified (holding an A1 Assessor Award) you can be paid to carry out assessments for learners.

What is internal verification?
This is the monitoring of all assessments for the accuracy and consistency of the application, interpretation and judgements made.
Standards are monitored by observing assessments, interviewing learners, checking assessment records and sampling learner evidence.
Do I need to continually update my qualification?
You need to be able to demonstrate continuous professional development and keep a record of this on your CV.
Can I keep my full time job?
It is acceptable for you as an assessor to work in the field you want to assess. Of course if you wanted to work as a freelance assessor for The Coaching Academy we would agree your availability prior to finalising any particular individual contract.
How much time do I need?
As an assessor you are required to carry out monthly visits to your allocated candidates. The amount of time you spend with them will depend upon the type of visit you carry out. We will only allocate candidates to you after discussing your availability.
Do I need to drive?
This is not a requirement of the job description, and candidates will be allocated to you according to your individual requirements.
